BYBA Competition-Nottingham 26th June 2011
A BYBA competition held at the Harvey Hadden Stadium in Nottingham. It was a scorching hot day, but this did not deter the enthusiasm of both the band and supporters alike, the band had put a lot of work into preparing for this competition and were determined to put on a great performance.

The band was competing against six other bands in division 1. Romford Drum and Trumpet Corps were the only traditional marching band, all the other competitors were American style show bands, this added to the pressure to prove that traditional style bands could compete in this type of competition.
Of the six division 1 bands RDTC was the fourth to play, by which time the temperature was in the high 20s and sun was beating down, RDTC marched onto the arena looking extremely smart and polished off in full uniform, with instruments, hats and boots all gleaming in the sunlight and every band member marching with pride. For some of the band this was their first competition and even though they were keen some were nervous but it did not show.
They took position with Jack Jones in the role of Drum Major for the first time, when the judges were ready Jack gave the command and the band burst into life playing Glorious Victory. Other songs played in the routine included Time to say goodbye, New Colonial and Olympics. Also in the middle of the routine was a Drum tattoo, the drum section of the band played their tattoo with precision and professionalism which raised applause from the supporters stand, including supporters of all the other bands. They re-joined the rest of the band where they marched first into a cross pattern then into a large open box which they made collapse then reopen, this again was done so well the whole of the stands cheered and people stood applauding.
The bands amassed on the arena for the results, with the associate bands there were a total of nine bands stretched across the back of the arena, in the centre were Romford Drum and Trumpet corps. They then lead and played all the bands forward for the presentations, we all waited with trepidation as they started to announce the results of the captions, out of 9, RDTC managed to win 4 including Music effect, Ensemble music, Field wind and Turnout. Along with these RDTC tied with Trinity in the Field visual. Then it came to the overall scores and with an overall score of 61.11 Romford Drum Trumpet Corps took first place.
