Drummers Perform on the hallowed turf of Wembley at the the FA Cup Final.
On the 30th May, the corps of drums had the honour of performing as part of the pre-match celebrations on the occasion of the FA Cup final. They were invited to take part as part of a multicultural drumming feature along with Indian Dohl and Japanese Taiko drummers. In a piece composed by Ethan Maltby called Waltz Apocalypse, the music started featuring the band corps of drums, before being joined by the Dohl and Taiko drummers as the music crescendo's to a big climax with football flags and explosions occurring at the finale.
This performance was one of the highest profile engagements the band had undertaken in recent years and required the corps to rehearse and record the track in advance. Whilst the corps had had the opportunity to rehearse on the pitch itself two days before the Everton v Chelsea final. Nothing could have prepared the drummers for the noise of a 90,000 capacity crowd and pressure of a TV audience of 1/2 a billion. Despite these pressure's, the corps took to the pitch at 2.40pm and performed the complex track with a faultless display of drumming.
The band would like to extend their thanks to Clive, Ethan, Jason , Steve and of course the 8 drummers would were a credit to the band.
